Report: Hammers miss out on striker

West Ham are set to miss out on a deal to sign Ben Brereton Diaz, according to a new report.

Teamtalk reports that La Liga club Sevilla are set to win the race for the Blackburn forward, who has previously been linked with a potential move to the Hammers.

Brereton Diaz has been in excellent form for the Championship club this season, scoring 21 goals in all competitions, and is said to be nearing a move to Sevilla.

The Spanish club are said to be ready to pay £20m to sign the forward, although Blackburn are looking for slightly more.

Still, Rovers are said to be aware that they can’t keep him around if they don’t win promotion, which isn’t looking likely at this point.

Blackburn were in the automatic promotion hunt earlier in the season but have had a remarkably poor run of form, and are now three points off the final play-off spot with just three games of the regular season remaining.

Sevilla, by comparison, are third in La Liga.
