Reported West Ham target Guillermo Maripan is currently struggling with injury as manager Maniuel Pellegrini bids to complete his summer transfer plans.

The Alaves central defender was first mentioned as a possible Irons arrival two or three months back and the story refuses to go away with the Hammers planning on bringing in up to six new faces this summer.

The squad look well stocked for central defenders with Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena, Angelo Ogonna and Winston Reid – who will be ready for a full pre-season.

But the 25 year old Maripan has had an outstanding season with the La Liga club and has impressed Hammers and other Premeir League scouts.

Maripan has played a central part in the La Liga side’s season but hasn’t appeared since April 19 following an ankle sprain and bad swelling.

But he continues to be linked with a move to the London Stadium and the Spanish tabloid Marca say he won’t be played again this season as the club look to sell him in the summer.
