Report: Hammers to miss out on left back target

Sheffield United have won the race to sign Antonee Robinson from Wigan for £2million after reaching an agreement with the Latics’ administrators, beating off competition from the likes of West Ham claims a report by David Anderson from the Daily Mirror.

David Moyes was claimed to hold interest in Robinson who returned to Wigan after undergoing treatment on a heart issue detected during a failed transfer to AC Milan in January. The 22-year-old defender was poised to make a seven-figure move to the Serie A side, only for an irregular heart rhythm to show up during his medical. He has since had further tests and treatment and returned with his doctors telling him he doesn’t require any further medical procedures

In March, it was revealed that the former Everton trainee was planned to undergo cardiac ablation to fix the issue detected in his heart.

Robinson joined Wigan from Everton Academy in July 2019 for £2m on a three-year contract and the Toffees retain a 20% sell-on clause.

Moyes watched the youngster play in the closing week of the Championship but it appears Robinson will not sign as a Hammer.

  1. What is going on? £2 million is such a bargain. We are desperate for a LB. Cresswell is finished and Masuaku is not a defender. We shouldn’t have let this deal get away from us. Feel like its an ‘excuse made window for G+S. The team WILL get relegated if new defenders are not brought in this summer. We need a starting LB and a starting RB. Another CB is required.

  2. And so it begins lol

  3. If they have reached an agreement with the administrators then anyone else can trump that, administrators are duty bound to get as much money as possible for the assetts so they don’t usually do deals that are final, imho if there is truth in the rumour it is more likely that the administrators have leaked the info to get higher offers.

  4. Moyes obviously doesn’t fancy him, strange as Sheffield Utd do, its the same old story, we are told we need to sell before we can buy, and yet we appear to be linked to every player on the planet, would be nice to get an official statement of intent from our owners, instead of this warped PR stuff, same old, same old

  5. It’s the same every ‘window’ and it’s the same for every team. Scroll through the gossip columns – player after player ‘linked’ with club after club. The media are full of it because that’s what the punters like. Moyes and West Ham are no different to 18 other Premier League clubs. We can’t buy everyone – and if the truth be known there was never any intention…despite what the Daily Mirror say!

    • Thats the thing Allen we havnt yet made any bids for anyone so ur right we cant buy everyone because you have to bid ,,then you dont get left panicking at the end of the window and end up with the dregs…covid has made it hard but I fear our board are using that as an excuse to much ..imo

  6. IMO Robinson a decent player as he is even at 2m inthe current crisis is still a risk.given his health and injury records..the last thing we need is potential crocks if there previous suggests they may be a liability. .
