Report: Hammers want Eredivisie defender

West Ham are interested in a deal to sign Feyenoord central defender Marcos Senesi, according to 90min.

The club are desperate to sign a new centre-back in the January transfer window after the injuries sustained by both Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma.

The 24-year-old has been with Feyenoord since 2019 and has made a total of 92 appearances for the club.

The report claims that there are a number of clubs monitoring Senesi’s development, with both Napoli and Roma asking about him in the summer, and Barcelona previously making an enquiry.

A variety of Premier League clubs are said to be looking at him, including the Hammers, but there is some fierce competition.

Spurs, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Leeds and Newcastle are all said to have made it clear that they would like to sign Senesi and it seems an auction could develop in the winter window.

Senesi is said to be desperate to play for Argentina at the World Cup in 2022 but he has yet to win a cap, so he perhaps needs a move.
