Report: Huge bid in for attacking midfielder

West Ham have made a huge bid worth £33.7m to sign Lucas Paqueta from Lyon, according to The Athletic.

The Hammers are reported to have met with the Brazilian playmaker’s representatives to discuss a deal for the player.

The Irons are said to be making a concerted push to secure his signature and want to bring him into the club before the end of the transfer window next week.

Paqueta is an experienced Brazil international and has been heavily linked with a potential exit from Lyon this summer amid reported interest from Spurs and Arsenal.

But it now appears the Hammers have made their move to bring him to east London, and talks are moving forward in terms of his personal terms and the fee involved.

Paqueta would become the Hammers’ eighth signing of the summer if he does arrive, with the Irons confirming the deal to buy Emerson Palmieri from Chelsea earlier this week.

  1. That would be a big signing! Looks like he can play across the attacking midfield, primarily left footed but decent right. Technically gifted, but with speed (like a Benrahma that doesn’t slow the play down).
Cornet – Paqueta – Bowen would be some awesome attacking power

  2. Wow please let’s get this one done what a signing he would be . Exactly what we’re missing let’s hope this goes smooth ⚒

  3. I remember him from when we played them in Europa league last year. Would be a good signing.
