Simon earlier today reported on the interest from Europe – and the Middle East- emerging for one Hammers player as the 31st August approaches: It appears that today a Premier League club has entered the fray which I’m sure would be well received by the player in question.
It is a loan move, according to Guardian Journalist Jacob Steinberg: Wolves apparently interested in taking Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd to the Midlands in a late deal. Whether this will be first choice for West Ham themselves is a moot point.
Whilst The Hammers are pretty focussed, shall we say, on removing players and costs from their squad it is likely that they would prefer an outright sale. Technical Director Tim Steidten will have his work cut out moving any of our ‘out of favour’ players who are earmarked for sale but refuse to leave as the deals they’re on at London Stadium are too good to leave.
Aguerd looks to have played his last game at London Stadium if one of these teams supposedly interested in his signature can come close to meeting his salary requests whilst at the same time paying a big enough transfer fee: A loan may well kick the financial can down the road for a season and be a ‘better than staying’ option for the player and the club. A lot to do in two days!
