Report: Irons could go back in for long-term target

West Ham are again being linked with a swoop for Ben Brereton Diaz at Blackburn Rovers.

Boss David Moyes is a big fan of the striker and considered a bid for the Chile international in the summer.

The Hammers ultimately opted against doing a deal for Brereton Diaz, as they secured the signing of Gianluca Scamacca instead.

However, Ex WHU Employee now reports that a new offer is being considered as Moyes looks to bolster his squad to battle relegation.

The 23-year-old has again been key for Blackburn this season and has scored nine goals in the Championship, with the club currently third in the table.

Brereton Diaz has a contract that expires at the end of the season and the Hammers may have an opportunity to convince the club to negotiate a deal.

Moyes is likely to have bigger priorities than signing a striker in January but we know he is a fan of the player, and a cut-price deal may appeal.

  1. Another poor signing if this happens, he is not the player we need to compliment the players we have. A player like the french player terrier is what we need.

  2. Another poor signing if this actually happens, he is not the player we need to compliment the players we have. A player like the french player terrier is what we need, a cjevervojayer who can play very close to Scamacca…

  3. I find this BBD chat ridiculous. Apparently he was available for £15m in the summer. Even if that’s £10 mil short of what it would have taken, and if DM is really such a fan, why oh why did we waste the money on the likes Emerson and Cornet? It just doesn’t add up. Yes, we needed a left back. Not sure we needed Cornet at all but Emerson is not a DM player. Basically carbon copy of Masuaku, awful defender, passable wing back. DM has no trust in him.
