Report: Irons eyeing big-name PL midfielders

|

West Ham are interested in a deal to sign James Ward-Prowse from Southampton and Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United this summer, according to The Sun.

The Hammers are said to be considering a swoop to sign the Saints skipper, who has been in such impressive form this season.

Ward-Prowse has scored nine goals and laid on five assists this season and is a set-piece specialist who is likely to go to the World Cup with England later this year.

Southampton, though, are said to be adamant that they won’t let their captain leave in the next transfer window.

Hammers boss David Moyes is also said to be considering another bid for Phillips.

Another England international, he is also wanted by Aston Villa and Manchester United and his transfer fee could plummet if Leeds are relegated.

They are currently 18th in the Premier League and Moyes saw a £50m bid for Phillips rejected in January.

Moyes’s already worrying transfer dealings like Kral, Vlasic would become unforgiveable if he signed Phillips. Spending 50m on a player who actually wont improve us will be a very big mistake in a lot of West Ham eyes, we won’t tolerate mistakes like that and neither will the owmers.

Good enough for England but not good enough for West Ham! What planet are you on mate? Him and Rice already have great chemistry, very boring I must admit but they understand each others game. If Rice does end up eventually leaving, and he has rejected a 200k contract which indicates he will be off in the near future, who would you get to soften to blow?
