Report: Irons eyeing lower-league youngster

West Ham are in the market to sign Sheffield Wednesday youngster Bailey Cadamarteri, according to a report from The Star.

The 17-year-old has yet to sign his first professional contract with the club and there is now interest from the Premier League in snatching him away.

Along with the Hammers, Brentford are also said to be interested in bringing Cadamarteri in.

He has impressed in Wednesday’s U18 squad and has been bumped up to the U23s, with him now firmly knocking on the door of a first-team breakthrough.

Cadamarteri plays primarily as a centre-forward and Wednesday are currently planning to give him a chance in this summer’s pre-season to see what he can do at senior level.

The Irons and Brentford are keeping a close eye on things, though, and may swoop in if he fails to agree new terms with the club.

This is certainly one to keep an eye on over the next few months.
