Report: Irons eyeing PL midfielder

EtienneCapoueWatford’s Etienne Capoue is the latest midfielder to be linked with a possible Irons move.

The 29 year old has been a major player for the Hornets since they returned to the Premier League and would cost the Hammers around £12 million.

The Daily Mail claims the Hammers are interested in the player and that the deal is open for discussion with Watford.

The Frenchman – previously with Spurs – scored seven times for the club last season to finish as the club’s second highest goalscorer in the league.

However, the holding midfielder has started just four times and made five appearances from the bench.

Manager David Moyes is determined to bring in a midfielder but has often repeated that he won’t buy players that aren’t better than what we already have and this one seems debatable at that level.

  1. We’ll become the Bin dippers of the premier league if we go after Mawson and Voldemort, picking up the scraps from teams no better than us. When Moysie was signed Delboy and Rodney said he would get the funds to make the necessary signings. Now we get £25 mill, whatever we get for Sakho and a bag of crisps for Carroll. Play Reece-Oxford and Rice together in the next 3 games to see how they work out.

    • +1. I really wish we would look outside PL Moyes is set on PL experience & tho Capoue inst a bad player he is 29 & like Shelvey we will prob be waiting till they bring in replacements till we get them.
I would really like to go for some younger players w pace & technique which Europe happens to be filled with.
Don’t want Simeone else’s sloppy seconds for 2x as much as they are worth.

Clubs have already gotten deals done & others are finishing some up today but if we don’t get off has to be PL players we will not be adding any players soon most likely

  2. What it would be like to be able to influence the owners of our Club to develop and communicate a strategic player recruitment plan with appropriate financial budgeting and integration with the ideas of a progressive coaching-managerial team. Everything at our Club is haphazard, unprofessional and absolutely lacking strategic know how. Strange that given Lady Brady’s claim to entrepreneurial and business fame. We always get caught up in the drama of crisis managing. This results in the knee-jerk practice of purchasing ‘odds and sods’ players, which Hammer580 accurately refers to as a ‘bin dipping’ approach. This does not stack up with the promise of a progressive top flight club offered to us as a sweetener for selling off the crown jewel that was Upton Park. Bit like the promise of millions for the NHS to lure people into voting for BREXIT. It seems the D’sx2 are into Trump-like ‘post truth’. The Irons as a Club needs top class management and leadership for the culture to be transformed from what some bloggers refer to as the ‘Walthamstow market’ approach to player recruitment (No disrespect to Walthamstow market folks intended).

How can we get our Club into progressive ownership?

  3. This is going to sound a bit crazy, but David Luiz is on the sidelines at Chelski. Why not get him on loan to play CDM ?

  4. Expensive, but maybe ready to lower salary to get playing time in view of the world cup. If not, how about the Ninja Nainggolan ?
