Report: Irons in for PSG man

West Ham are interested in a deal to sign PSG defender Abdou Diallo, according to a new report in France.

Media Foot Marseille report that there are a number of clubs eyeing up a potential move to sign the centre-back.

Rennes are also said to be interested, along with Napoli, but the Hammers are given a mention too.

It makes sense that Rennes are trying to recruit a new centre-back, as they sold Nayef Aguerd to the Irons earlier this summer.

But it seems the Irons could rival them for Diallo after Aguerd suffered an ankle injury in the pre-season friendly against Rangers.

Diallo would cost €20m (£16.7m) and PSG are willing to sell but it remains to be seen if boss David Moyes will be willing to spend money to replace Aguerd, given that there are four other options in the squad, in Craig Dawson, Angelo Ogbonna, Kurt Zouma and Issa Diop.

Diallo has been with PSG since 2019 and has made 75 appearances for the club, while also winning 17 caps for Senegal.

He can play as a left-back as well as a centre-back, so keep an eye on this one.

  1. Definitely need a replacement for Diop and Dawson can only be like Cresswell if they stay used as back ups. Centre back and left back needed before city roll over us after scamacca scores twice for us .

  2. I agree, what is wrong with a reasonably sized competitive squad, with both young and old Players in it and a couple of loan signings. We need to replace Cresswell and Dawson now, before they have actually left, so the replacements can get used to the role and get a bit of advice from the Players who have held the role before.
