Report: Irons in three-way fight for Serie A star

West Ham are battling both Everton and Spurs to sign Mattias Svanberg from Bologna this summer, according to a new report in Italy.

The report comes from 1000 Cuori Rossoblu, who claim that Svanberg could be set to leave the Serie A club when the season comes to an end.

Svanberg is 23 and has won 18 caps for Sweden, playing primarily as a central midfielder, although he is capable of playing both as a No.10 and as a defensive midfielder.

He has made 36 appearances this season in all competitions, scoring three goals and laying on three assists.

Svanberg has been with Bologna since 2018 and is said to be wanted by the Hammers, Everton, and Spurs ahead of the summer.

His contract expires at the end of next season, meaning that he could be available for a kn0ck-down price this summer.

He would cost around £12.8m, which is an affordable figure for all three clubs.

However, it may depend on where they all end up; the Hammers are still fighting for Europa League qualification, Spurs are still in the race to qualify for the Champions League, and Everton are fighting for survival.
