Report: Irons may be interested in ‘free signing’ striker

|

West Ham are being reported as being ready to look at free agent Benjamin Moukandjo as a possible back up striker after his departure from Chinese club Jiangsu Suning.

Moukandjo’s name has been put out there by ExWHUemployee following his departure from last season’s loan club Beijing Renhe scoring seven times in 19 appearances.

Once his loan contract had expired with Beijing, he returned to Jiangsu, and was made a free agent.

That was his eleventh club – which included two loan spells since 2007 – with his most successful spell probably coming at Nancy between 2011 – 2014 where he managed 19 goals in 89 games.

His career goals to games record according to his Wiki entry is 122 from 305 appearances and whether a guy who has been released from a Chinese club after a two year stint in the country is a realistic option seems debatable..

Moukandjo played for Ligue 1 side Monaco before joining Jiangsu and is currently still available for someone to start negotiations, according to  ExWHUemployee.

The Cameroonian is very much a something of a journeyman operator who has none the less managed eight goals from 57 appearances for his country.

“I think we will look to get a forward on loan, if we don’t sell Hernandez, or a free transfer,” ExWHUemployee told the West Ham Way podcast on Phoenix FM

“Welbeck is still available, Sturridge is still available, Balotelli, Llorente, and there is this guy as well whose name was brought to my attention the other day called Benjamin Moukandjo.”

“He’s got a decent goals-to-game record out there and is available on a free.”

“Pellegrini knows him from his time in China and could be someone that is looked at.”

No thanks.complete waste of time and wages.if we going down this route of journeyman striker then we may as well get someone with prem experience at least.
As i said before there is no way we are skint so get some decent back up players to replace the ones that have left

Of all those listed Balotelli is the most likely to get us 20 goals and fire us into the European places isn’t he ? Llorente is the safe option? Welbeck and Sturridge miss most of the season with injuries? The other guy based on our past record will do nothing and score less than that ?

or Balotelli could destroy the group spirt, when he doesn’t start and kicks off. I think Pelle is wisely considering these things.

Hopefully, if a back up striker is signed, he won’t be needed.
