Report: Irons table defender bid

West Ham have made a bid for PSG defender Thilo Kehrer, according to Sky Sports.

The outlet reports that the Hammers have made a formal offer for the Germany international as Issa Diop closes in on his Hammers exit.

Diop is poised to join Fulham after refusing to play against Manchester City; the Irons have accepted a £13m bid for the centre-back.

As a result, it appears that boss David Moyes is eyeing Kehrer as his replacement.

The 25-year-old is capable of playing in central defence and at right-back and appears surplus to requirements in the French capital.

Kehrer played 34 times last season but the Irons are hoping to bring him to east London.

PSG have yet to give a response to the Irons’ offer – Sky have not made the value of the bid clear – but there are said to be other options on the shortlist if Kehrer cannot be signed.

Without Diop, it looks likely that Ben Johnson will again have to play at centre-back against Nottingham Forest.
