West Ham are ready to do a player-swap deal for Marseille’s star Morgan Sanson and Manuel Lanzini according to Alan Nixon writing in the Sun.
The twenty-six old French midfielder has turned down approaches by the Hammers.
The report claims Marseille would trade their midfielder as he is just 18 months from the end of his contract.
The 26-year-old Argentine is still valued in the £15m bracket and is on a large salary at West Ham after signing a new deal last year.
The French club are open to selling the 26-year-old to raise funds. Sanson has been a key figure under Andre Villas-Boas, and helped them to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 last season.
Sanson has been out of action with a muscle injury since mid-December and finally made his return to action this weekend in a defeat to Nimes.
A number of clubs announced their interest over the summer including Newcastle and Aston Villa, but a move never materialised.
There was an article about Samson on the 12th may last year by Anthony Martin on Hammers News which said he’d switched to a new agent pin zahavi to engineer a move to premier league. Apparently he was desparate to play in the premier league. I think he’s been linked to West Ham for a few years now. Could be there’s no smoke without fire but who knows.
Other media are reporting that a deal is close and the club is Villa, seems to be more likely than us, although I hope it is us, he looks top quality.
Lanzini needs play time so we can see what he has left. The sodden, cow pasture doesn’t count. He performed reasonably well yesterday with very few minutes.
WHU would end up subsidizing his wages anyway, so keep him till sure he doesn’t have a part to play.
