England Under-18 defender Matthew Bondswell is reported to be heading to West Ham for a medical after agreeing the terms of a move.
The report claims the Hammers are on the verge of seeing off competition from multiple clubs to seal the capture of Bondswell, 18, from RB Leipzig saying that West Ham have agreed a permanent deal for the left-back with Leipzig.
Football Insider claim he has been granted permission to head to London on Monday to discuss personal terms and undergo medical tests.
It is expected he will cut short his season-long loan at Dutch second division side FC Dordrecht and then become the Hammers’ second signing of the January window following Danish centre-back Frederik Alves.
The teenager was in the Nottingham Forest youth ranks for eight years before his transfer in 2018. The teenager joined Dutch second division side FC Dordrecht last August on a season-long loan in order to get regular game time.
He has made seven appearances this season, six of which have come as a starter in league matches.
Same as with Craig Dawson, is it the Stuart Pearce connection?
On paper it seems a good signing but can he fill in if Cress was injured next week ? Im sure he will be fine but please GSB back the manager we need a striker.
Really positive signing and hopefully the result of good scouting. A British, young left back with an eye on the future rather than buying c.33 year old has beens to fill a gap (Arbeloa..etc.). Let’s hope this continues and our transfer strategy moves away from the big names.
