Report: Oxford touches down in Germany

reece-oxford-west-ham-oxford_3335636Reece Oxford has reportedly arrived in Germany to complete a season-long loan move to Borussia Monchengladbach.

The teenager has flown in for advanced talks with the Bundesliga club and is expected to sign up for the season.

After a disappointing loan spell at Reading last season the Irons are keen for the youngster to put a hard edge on his game and the Bundesliga is an ideal league in which to do so.

The defender is seen as a future West Ham captain with the Irons desperately keen for him to gain regular first team football but there is no chance of him agreeing any permanent deals.

Chelsea centre-half Andreas Christensen has spent the last two seasons on loan at Monchengladbach and the German club believe Oxford can make a similar impression in the Bundesliga next season.

Borussia finished in ninth place in the league of 18 last season.

  1. Great news. Just what he needs for his progress. As long as he puts his heart and soul into it, he will return next May a far better player and ready to join the squad for the following season.

  2. This will be the making of him i believe. It will be a valuable experience on and off the pitch.

  3. Should never have been on the Plane . Rediculous . So it seems the Premiership is not the place to learn Football . In a word ; Gollocks .

  4. And we wonder why Germany have won so many World Cups !!!.
