Report: Porto president finalises deal with West Ham

According to the Portuguese newspaper, ABolo Moussa Marega is leaving FC Porto, in a deal worth around 40 million euros (£35m) which matches the release clause. The paper claim that West Ham is his most likely destination saying it is the club the striker has always wanted.

Abolo adds that Porto president Pinto da Costa has already finalised the details of Marega’s move to West Ham. A Bola adds that he will leave the Estadio do Dragao for £35 million, a fee that would make the 28-year-old West Ham’s second most expensive player ever after Felipe Anderson.

The Malian striker – who has previously been linked with a host of clubs including Everton,  Wolves and more recently Celtic – has netted 41 goals for Os Dragoes since joining from Maritimo in 2016.

The Essonne-born player has played 45 games for Porto this term, scoring 21 goals and registering 11 assists in all competitions – including six goals and three assists in the UEFA Champions League.

  1. I always have reservations about signing African players given that we will lose them for however long their country remains in that two bob African Cup Of Nations, especially as it increases their risk of fatigue and injury.

  2. He missed a hatful of chances in the CL games that I saw. Clumsy, poor touch. An expensive version of Michail Antonio at his poorest. Too much money for him

  3. I will believe it when I see it . Don’t forget this is Sullivan’s happiest time of the year . Loads of players he can be linked with …we really tried hard … bull**** when in fact unless it is for free or covered by sales he does not want to know .

  4. Personally I don’t think we should pay those figures for players over 26.

  5. This could come back to haunt us.. an expensive gamble on a player unproven in any top league.. mind you we are well known for paying through the nose to maintain mediocrity ☹️

  6. At 28 it’s a lot of money.Would prefer Maxi plus the Arnie and Antonio partnership looked potent for the last part of the season.

  7. Is there any truth in this story chaps .You have been very quite

  8. West Ham have agreed terms with a Portuguese club & player will sign 1st June.. mmm where have I heard that one before?

Until I see a player standing there holding up his new WHU shirt, I won’t believe anything

  9. Also seen £30m deal for him. I like Margera but for the money rather pay £16m for Rondin who is PL proven & do great with Anderson & Antonio.
Or offer Hugill + £10-12m for Rondon.

Still don’t get why we aren’t looking at Inaki Williams 24yo probably suit us the best out of LA Liga CFs.
