Report: Price tag revealed for striker

Ben Brereton Diaz will cost £30m in the January transfer window, according to a new report from Teamtalk.

The Hammers are reportedly interested in a deal to sign the Blackburn Rovers striker, who has been in incredible form this season.

He has almost single-handedly driven the club’s promotion hunt as they look to climb back into the Premier League.

This term, the Chile international has scored 20 goals in 25 games in the second-tier and the new report claims that Blackburn will demand a big fee for him.

Diaz only has six months left on his current contract but Blackburn are strengthened by the fact that they have the option to extend his deal by another year.

Rovers remain keen on keeping him at the club but they are said to be aware that he has a price and have drawn a comparison with Ollie Watkins, who cost Aston Villa £30m when he moved from Brentford.

Taking that deal as a comparison, we can see this kind of report being true.

  1. I seem to remember that Adam Armstrong was being touted in a similar fashion last year but is not looking a £30m player at Southampton. A lot of money and a bit of a gamble.
