Former Hammer Rio Ferdinand is among pundits who are claimed to be considering legal action against BT over loss of pay following the suspension of the game

Ferdinand – along with Robbie Savage and Jermaine Jenas — are allegedly also involved in the issue as the football delay drags on.

According to the Mail on line talks aimed at sorting the problem have been going on for 10 days but there is no resolution in sight.

Many of the experts — former players of international repute — are on pro-rata contracts and face not being paid for the remainder of their deals because there are no live games.

In normal circumstances they would usually be paid in full at the end of the season, even if they do not meet their allotted number of appearances, providing they were available to appear.

But the Mail says BT Sport have informed pundits they do not intend to do the same this year, owing to the truncated live schedule.

ClaretandHugh says: It’s never ending isn’t it? On a day when present day players are attempting to to help the NHS by contributing funds from their earnings, former players are allegedly looking to ensure that, despite a health crisis which is leaving everybody helpless, they get what they are due. Very few people in football are coming out of this well although the decision to try helping the NHS is to be applauded by the players. So long as they do the right thing by accepting their clubs need help  as well they will have done the game a service. But – honestly – the likes of Ferdinand and Savage have many media interests and have earned a fortune from the game during their careers. This really does seem beyond the pale. With everything shut there’s not much to spend money on right now anyway. No,seriously, they need to  think about how you are going to be seen when they next appear on screen giving views which few take to seriously anyway. Indeed they need to wonder whether given this attitude anyone will want to employ them anyway!
