Report: Rice has another new suitor

|

Real Madrid are now being linked with Declan Rice.

The Telegraph reports that the West Ham midfielder is likely to be at the centre of a bidding war in the summer.

The usual names are mentioned: Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

But also thrown in there are the Spanish giants of Real, who may end up being a more attractive option for the Hammers’ boardroom, as they would prefer to sell him to a foreign club than a Premier League rival.

The Telegraph does rather strangely claim that the most the Hammers can hope for is £70m if Declan leaves.

That really isn’t the case, and the Hammers would expect to receive over £100m if Declan did leave.

But we know that he will be at the centre of a bidding war in the summer, and it may be that Real Madrid win that bidding war.

Few would begrudge him moving to Spain. But if he moved to another English club… well.

The reference to us having a top manager to help Declan stay is irrelevant as top managers only manage at existing Champions league regulars. Look at Guardiola, Klopp, Tuchel and even Pochinetto. We need to be in Champions league to even be considered so Moyes out brethren will have to come up with other options. In the meantime enjoy the rest of your career Declan wherever that may be?

Dec has earned our love and respect and I wish him well in the rest of his career wherever it is. Maybe if we had a top top manager he could achieve here, but it doubt we will ever know.

Personally I would have thought Barcelona would be more likely if he ends up in Spain. Busquets is in the twilight of his career and although Real sold Casemiro to Man United they have Tchouaméni and Camavinga as ready made replacements.

Wishing him well wherever he ends up.

Can’t see that happening to be honest..
