West Ham striker Diafra Sakho is close to completing an £8m move to Rennes, according to a report by Sky Sports quoting sources. The report says Rennes are prepared to pay £4.5m up front for the Senegal international with £3.5m in add-ons depending on his performance.
Sakho came close to moving to Rennes on the penultimate day of the last transfer window even taking a medical in France but was called back claiming he had no permission to speak to the French club.
Sakho joined West Ham in 2014 from Metz FC for an initial £3.5m transfer fee which later increased to £5m with add-ons. His wages were just £15,000 per week which was later increased to £25,000 per week after 25 appearances and a flurry of goals.
Over the next three years, his wages later increased to £33,000 a week with appearance bonuses raised last Summer to £30,000 for a start and £15,000 should he be on the bench but the player still believes he is paid far less than his counterparts in the team and wants a move away.
His contract finishes in five months time although both sides have a two-year option available to them. West Ham will most likely cut their losses to get want they can now rather than risk him walking away for free. They will also save an addition £660,000 in wages which are wasted as he is not currently playing.
Carroll mk 2 !!!
Bigger risk than Carroll !
Anyway who is going to supply him ! Its a mess !! Were all hoping sully shytes himself and gets rid of some of the bull shyte he’s been peddling us and gets his lidles bonus card out and finds a few loans and bargains in the 32-34 year old bracket to move us forward and to safety !! 😉
It is a mess agreed.I keep trying to fathom where all this is leading.Keep saying i would like Dendoncker but he plays as a defensive midfielder or CH.Have not seen Mario so not sure what he will offer which means we need a striker,a creative midfielder/winger at least.Ridiculous that its like this with so many winnable games coming up.Planning for the future looks well down on the priority list just now.
Do we have a replacement striker lined up before deadline day?.As things stand if this deal goes through we have Hernandez.Martinez maybe but its a lot to ask of him and God knows what is happening with Ayew.Real worries about the lack of depth in the squad at the moment. What about Sturridge?
