Report: United eyeing Rice alternative

Manchester United are considering alternatives to Declan Rice this summer, per a new report.

The Hammers are confident that Rice will remain at the club throughout the next transfer window and will be at the club throughout next season.

We have reported that the two parties have come to an agreement over the England international’s future, with Rice willing to stay for another season and potentially leave next summer. He could even sign a new contract with a release clause included.

United have never really been seen as a realistic option because the Hammers star wants to win trophies, and United are very likely to miss out on Champions League football this season.

And the Standard reports that, as a result, the club are eyeing potential moves for either Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips or Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

United do want to sign Rice but there is precious little chance that he would be swayed by a move from them, given how far behind the likes of Manchester City, another potential suitor, and Liverpool they are.
