It has been an unhappy association for the player concerned, who has struggled to make any impact on the first team despite having travelled half way around the world to join West Ham. A spell in the u21’s followed by a loan spell away in Poland last season failed to help Brazilian Luizao cement a permanent move an the player returned to the club at the end of the 24-5 season.
Buyers have remained invisible: West Ham’s “punt” on the young Brazilian appears to have backfired as they quite clearly don’t rate him enough to include him in the Hammers’ senior squad yet cannot find a buyer to take him off their hands permanently.
Sportwitness.co.uk report that another short term arrangement is being worked on, in the absence of a confirmed bid to buy:
“West Ham’s Luizão could be heading back to Brazil, with Fortaleza pushing to sign the 23-year-old on loan until the end of the year.”
At least the young man and his family will get then chance to head home and exhibit their wares in front of a domestic audience – which can only hope Luizao’s chances of securing a permanent deal to bring the sorry saga to a conclusion. Half way around the world with a young family and no first team football must be a huge mental challenge for the player and his partner.
The loan spell at Polish side Pogoń Szczecin produced 30 appearances and a willingness from the Poles to loan again – but nothing was nailed down and now the player must hope to get back to they other side of the Atlantic and put the last two years behind him.
