Report: West Ham Battle Moyes Everton For Yet Another Midfielder

West Ham have been linked with yet another midfielder and, frankly, it’s baffling as to why.

The Hammers are hardly short in the middle of the park. Edson Álvarez and James Ward-Prowse remain on the books, while emerging talents Preston Fearon and Lewis Orford are pushing for opportunities. So why the same transfer rumours keep circling I’ve no idea?

The latest name is Torino’s Cesare Casadei, with West Ham reportedly monitoring the Italian alongside Everton and former boss David Moyes. According to Inside Football scouts have been watching, interest is there—but it’s doubtful—the Hammers are leading this race.

Casadei, once highly rated at Chelsea, has rebuilt his reputation in Serie A after a difficult spell in England. Since joining Torino in January 2025, he has become an important figure, with a decent touch and physical presence.

Torino are open to a sale, with a reported asking price between €15m and €18m, although Chelsea’s sell-on clause could complicate any deal.

From a West Ham perspective, you can see the logic if we were to sell Mateus Fernandes in the summer but lets hope it doesn’t come to that.

With West Ham battling near the bottom of the Premier League table, nobody knows which division we’ll be in next season. A Claret & Hugh source has already rubbished one rumour today calling talks of a £38M deal for Axel Disasi “Absolute nonsense”.

I suspect this is the same.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.
