West Ham chasing Rice replacement

The Irons are eyeing Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow as Declan Rice’s replacement when the captain leaves this summer.

Hammers head of recruitment Rob Newman is thought to have watched the Swiss international in last weekend’s Bundesliga clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Sow was first considered when he impressed as part of the Frankfurt we were beaten by in last season’s Europa League semi-final.

The German side went on to win the competition, earning a spot in the Champions League.

Sow played every minute of Frankfurt’s Champions League games and has four goals in 41 appearances in all competitions.

He also started all four of Switzerland’s games at the World Cup.

Now, he could be available for as little as £20million — especially as Frankfurt are set to miss out on European qualification.

Declan has been heavily linked with Arsenal over recent weeks but as reported here the club have explained there has not been a single bid  for him in the last four years.

The most important recruitment this summer is a new manager so we keep the current squad together and then add some. Let’s hope the owners get this sorted and they get the right man on board quickly. There should be no one leaving or anyone signed until that happens and especially on the advice of Moyes. One link I saw recently that I liked was to Javier Alonso, he could be a very astute managerial appointment.
