Atletico Madrid striker Jimenez has succeeded in his work permit appeal, according to Spanish daily AS, and is now just waiting for a call to travel to London to complete his loan move.
The Spanish paper says ‘West Ham have been given the Green light for the necessary work permit’
Jimenez failed in a key criteria when it comes to qualifying for a work permit in that he has not played in 75 per cent of Mexico’s matches over the last two years.
Jimenez has scored one goal in 28 games for Atletico. But his record of 39 goals in 102 games for Club America – and eight in 36 outings for Mexico – is enough to have turned heads at the Boleyn.
The report suggests the Hammers will pay two million Euro fee for a season long loan of the 24 year old striker.
Just watch him play 66 then in a couple of months you can call me a mug,
We had layers at the Olympics Tomkins and they were terrible, this bloke took the competition by storm,A Madrid do not waste money on players,he just did not get a chance last year because of Torres,
He will be a winner and the pity is we will loose him next year,
Never seen the guy play, looking forward to seeing another new signing in the Claret and Blue once confirmed 🙂
I wasn’t keen on this bloke but Bubs makes some good points why this might make sense. We need to attract a proven goal scorer and if this helps to snag Hernandez it’s a nice move.
Haha, you make me laugh bubs, you were moaning & groaning about paying 2 mill loan for jenks but it is a great deal paying 2 mill loan for this guy, lmao. You do make me smile Bubilicious 😀
The great thing about this player is he can play wide as well as central,he is quicker than Sakho and Carroll and offers us something different, with only Payet and Jarvis at the moment natural wide players with pace he is a good loan move,
We have to remember when Carroll is fit and Valencia we are going to be in the position of having to have players that are not even on the bench,
If also the rumours are true he may be the magnetic that brings Hernadez to the club,
At £2 million for one year a great deal,
I hope he proves me wrong but I don’t see this a great addition. his goals ratio isn’t brilliant.
his appearances in Spain were mostly as sub and i’m assuming when we have our 1st choice strike-force available this will be his role for us as well , just as Carlton did last year.
surely the £2 million would have been better spent on a prospect to warm the bench instead ?
i suppose we have an option to buy and if he adapts to the premier league it could turn out a good move.
I don’t know what to think about this one, at least he is welcome back-up in our position but even before Atletico his record is hardly stellar, though decent at club level, though in a leaguet at a markedly lower level than the Prem. I suppose better than nothing is the way I feel and indeed if its in addition to a far more established goal scorer then fine, especially if it encourages Hernandez to choose us.
