Report: Youngster’s wage demands a problem for Irons

Sonny Perkins

West Ham youngster Sonny Perkins’ agents are looking for wages at the Hammers which are currently considered too high by the club.

That’s according to ExWHUemployee who declared on Twitter that there are problems satisfying the 18 year old hopes.

The player is currently being courted by Leeds United and Aston Villa whom the ITK claims are more receptive to the personal terms being sought.

Ex tweeted in response to the alleged wage demands “More so his agent, and high is high by our definition. Not by Leeds or Villa it seems.”

The Hammers apparently have made Ben Johnson’s new deal their main priority among the younger players this summer although he is not out of contract until 2024

However, Perkins has become an  under 23 star and one that manager David Moyes likes having given him an outing against Dinamo Zagreb and a brief appearance, ironically against Leeds, at the London Stadium last season in a 2-3 defeat.

In most cases youngsters should be encouraged to remain at the club with which they grew up when at such a young age rather than becoming “lost” elsewhere.

However, for that to happen the centre forward would be hoping to get assurances that he will receive first team playing time.

Gotta be a generation thing….. the kids that go on to be successful, very rarely go down this road.
