Reports: Irons in late deadline action

|

MbodiWest Ham are tonight reported to be closing in on 25 year old Sengalese defender Kara Mbodj.

Mbodji was the first name on the Hammers Deadline Day radar and it appears that the clubs may have played a very shrewd game in throwing other names into the pot to keep the spotlight off the Genk defender.

However, the Hammers have also admitted that they are talking to Tottenham’s Younes Koubal and it’s now a case of which they can persuade aboard on personal terms.

Mbodji looks likely to be offered a loan deal with a price of £2 million on a permanent arrangement at the end of the season whilst the Koubal deal would cost the Hammers £2.5m.

There is also suggestions that should West Brom complete a deal for Carlton Cole, the Irons may try to bring Mauro Zarate back to the club and send Matt Jarvis in the opposite direction.

Seems a strange decision to allow Cole to go if Carroll has an ankle injury.I guess it isnt too bad as earlier today Sam was talking up cover for him which included Coles name in his quotes. If Cole goes i hope he does well.Though he has never been what we really needed upfront in regards to him being a goalscorer who will get 15/20 goals a season regularly he has always tried to do his best for us,even if it hasnt always been rewarded with goals or the career i think he maybe could have made more of.If this is the last we see of him then good luck to lad.Out of the frying pan into the fire if he goes to WBA.From Allardyce to Pulis, lucky lad 😉

Good luck to Carlton – top man. Would love to see Zarate back. And I would prefer to get the player from Gent over Kaboul.

Mbodj could be a great signing as he is out of the same mould as Kouyate. My biggest worry at the moment is that Roger Johnson has been released by Wolves and the club may bring him back to the Boleyn for a 2nd spell and that would really send out all the wrong messages to the fans and bring back reminders of last seasons darkest times.

Although there hasn’t been any £30million wonder deals through the door(yet! Lol.), things do seem to be coming to the boil nicely.

Cole away-good news! Jarvis out on loan?-also good news! Zarate coming back?-even better news!
Mbodj-a kouate type centre half? Got to be good news! Kaboul? Hmmm, not really sure about that one. I would only take him as a loan deal untill our injuries have cleared up. Or too stop us being able to sign Rodger the relegator again!

I wasn’t going to bother staying up as I thought we wouldn’t be doing any business in this window! Might just have to now.

Zarate coming home great ifBFS will play him now they have history,
Roger Johnson no thank you sooner play Oxford Or Booth
Moods could be another Sakho fingers cross
Jarvis shame but does not fit the new system sooner have Zarate back
As for anyone from Spurs thank but no thanks,
Agree with rads if Carroll was that bad we would have heard but with Zarate back even with no Sakho Valencia and Zarate up top would stop the high ball and make us play football sorry BFS yes I said FOOTBALL

Fantastic deadline day, I can see what all the hype is about now, Chelski got a player and no one went anywhere and if they did, they come back, David Gold tweeted to West Ham fans “don’t go to bed”, I suppose he didn’t want us to miss all the excitement of not doing any deals, cheers for that, we have been on the edge of our seats watching nothing happening
