Return of the king…DG at 80 … and BFS is back

pete 2

By Pete Ellis on the Hammers week that was!

DAVID GOLD’S 80th

With our joint chairmen turning 80 this week, it was nice to see that the Twitter abuse was toned down a notch in recognition of this milestone.

Only Barry from Barking, and Steve from Southend had a bad word for DG, with one calming he should do something about the standing fans, and the other asking him to do something about the sitters.
It was like an episode of Judge udy, with DG in the big chair.
On the subject of the up or down supporters, it’s clear that many are not happy, and it does seems odd to hear fans of the same team chanting “sit down shut up” and “stand up if you love West Ham” at each other.
RETURN OF KING PAYET
This weeks game vs Watford is going to be like the JRR Tolkien classic, Return of the King.
Payet’s back to take his place on the throne, which is slightly ironic as without him and the rest of the fellowship of Boleyn, we have been toilet.
The rest of the walking wounded are also due to start returning, and our treatment room will stop resembling a scene from the walking dead at long last.
MEMORIES OF BFS
It was nice to see the press reports of the England team’s performance this week too.
Seeing West Ham, er I mean England, play bang average and only just scrape over the line after the oppositions best player got sent off, certainly reminded me of a few games I’ve witnessed under big Sam.
Although at least he didn’t cup his ear at the England fans after this one. He’s not daft enough to jeopardise his job until after the 6month probation period.
Like they say, he’s ahead of his time…..
MARMITE JARVIS
I’ve been on holiday in Norfolk this week, and I have caught up with a few Norge City fans (thats what it sounded like) and they have some interesting views on Matt Jarvis.
Marmite springs to mind, which is odd as you would think people that are all related would have similar views….
Anyway, enjoy the game, and let that huge sigh of relief out as this is where our season is really going to start (…..awaits a shock win for Watford…)
