The true price of West Ham United’s latest signing Valentín Castellanos has been revealed by a top London Stadium source speaking directly to Claret & Hugh today.

The signing of the Argentine striker was announced by the club at lunchtime.

The 27-year-old has agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Hammers, including an option for a further year. The deal is structured as a €30m (£26m) fixed transfer fee, payable in instalments, plus a further €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons to Lazio.

When Claret & Hugh asked whether the €30m figure represented the final guaranteed fee, our source clarified:

“There are tough add-ons. Both new strikers are the manager’s choice.”

The confirmation comes amid strong backing from the board for Nuno Espírito Santo, who faces a huge test against his former club Nottingham Forest tomorrow at the London Stadium.

Earlier, a board spokesman dismissed claims that Nuno would be sacked in the event of defeat as “rubbish”, underlining that the club remain firmly behind the manager — at least for now.

I take it that tough add ons means that the add ons are tough to trigger…

I wonder why a four and a half year contract.

  • On me head Trev says:

Maybe we will actually play the forwards in the team rather than do another moves and not play the forward because he needs to bed in. Already peed of because the he won’t play Ward Prowse and he’s our vice captain so that’s really inspiring isn’t it? Wish Nuno would do the decent thing and resign.Play them tomorrow and prove me wrong

After that vote of confidence in Nuno, let’s count the minutes before Ruben Amorim’s name appears in a headline on these pages.

    4 and a half year contract 😂😂😂
That will be more like 4 and a half months when there relegated..
Honestly who signs of on these contracts ??
Both will have zero impact at a team thats already looking like a mid-table Championship side, infact thats being extremely kind and generous, should of said a team fighting against relegation from the Championship
