Speaking to the media ahead of Everton’s trip to Sunderland on Monday night, Everton manager Ronald Koeman has revealed why he signed Enner Valencia on loan.
Koeman also quashed suggestions that Valencia was a panic buy, saying “He was one of the options earlier on in the window.CHe can play as a nine or behind the striker and that is good for us. We need that versatility.
“He will bring that competition that all players need,” Koeman said. “He has pace, he’s physical, he can play in different positions across the front, and he can press.
“Of course we have Romelu as a No.9 and we have tried (Gerard) Deulofeu as a nine in pre-season. Valencia can play as a nine too. He gives the team more options to start, and that’s the competition that we need. It is a long season and a difficult season and I need competition.”

When I read that part about him being physical it really made me wonder how much Koeman has even watched him.Im sure he has but is now just trying to big up attributes.Being physical ain’t one of them I’m afraid Ronald.
Koeman obviously plans to play him more centrally, watch him rack up the numbers now
Koeman must have watched someone I have never seen,
Because the man he is telling us can play the roles is not. The player he signed from us,
He won’t even get playing time unless he has many injuries,
I won’t Biggins to be a big hit and we get the money next year
To invest in a great CH next year which is still our week link,
He might be totally **** but we need him to score at least 5 or 6 so the blue noses pay up the extra 13m which would be the biggest robbery since one or two diamonds were nicked from Hatton Garden.
All I can see from this is him playing a couple of games,flattering to decieve & then getting benched for most the season.
I cannot even imagine him ‘racking up the numbers’ as BB puts it.Even playing centrally he is so poor at finishing.
Why did Everton sign Valencia? Because they like throwing money in the trash… lol 😀
