Chelsea may have finally moved on from their Declan Rice pursuit!
The Blues have been tirelessly linked with the England star, despite their being precious little evidence that a bid was ever forthcoming.
The links have dampened a little since Frank Lampard’s sacking as manager and Thomas Tuchel’s appointment and now they are being linked with a midfielder from Ligue 1.
ESPN reports that the club are ‘huge admirers’ of AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
That may not be a name you’ve heard of but the 21-year-old has carved himself out a firm place in Monaco’s starting XI.
This season, he has made 27 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring one goal and laying on two assists.
A France U20 international, he’s a tough-tackling defensive midfielder with an eye for a pass – sound familiar?!
He also has a contract until 2024 so there is unlikely to be any kindly negotiations going on – Monaco will want a whacking great fee for a really promising young talent.
We’ll consider the Rice matter closed.
