Rice full debut in the balance

|

West Ham fans will be hoping Declan Rice makes his full international debut in Montenegro tomorrow night (Mon).

Eric Dier is  out of the Euro 2020 qualifier  after being injured in Friday’s win over the Czech Republic which gives Dec an outside chance of making the starting X1 .

Dier picked up a muscular injury and will return to his club  for treatment but although our midfielder could get a call for the job manager Gareth Southgate looks more likely to go with Chelsea’s  Ross Barkley.

The Chelsea midfielder enjoyed an outstanding game when he came on for Dier in the 17th minute on Friday night and is likely to hold start in Monenegro.

Although, it’s not unknown for the manager to spring a surprise  it’s probably more likely he will see Rice as as sub for Dele Alli whom the England boss is treating carefully after recent injuries.

The young Hammer did very little wrong on his debut and the manager will be pleased to have such options.

Barclay outstanding.? Most of what he did was ineffective to be polite. If the Basmati Busquets aka Rice doesn’t start against Montenegro the only reason might be because they are not seen as an offensive threat, he should be one of the first names on the team sheet, Henderson was poor, Dier worse it was Sancho, Sterling and Kane that defended well from the front that got through the midfield defensive work along with Alli, Henderson is showing all the signs of turning into a Noble type player, reliable great in the dressing room but lacking in that extra bit that distinguishes the good from the great.
