Declan Rice has urged West Ham supporters to get behind a request for applause on 14 minutes for a West Ham supporting teenager who recently passed away.
Rice told his followers on Twitter Make sure you join in on the minute’s applause against Leicester! a massive @WestHamUtd supporter taken too soon! #RIPFREDDIE”
St Martin School in Brentwood, Essex sent out a message saying “We are trying to get a minutes applause at the 14th minute of theĀ West Ham Utd v Leicester City match on Saturday 20th April 2019. Please spread the word on social media using #clapforFreddie.”
Freddie Felton, a student at St Martin’s School was found unresponsive by his parents at his home address on the morning of Thursday, February 19 and had his funeral this week.
Emergency services were called to Vernon Crescent including an air ambulance to treat a suspected cardiac arrest but sadly, despite the best efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene from a previously unknown health condition.
His friends and family want supporters to join in for one minute of applause for Freddie in the game against Leicester, as usual, the club are aware of the social media campaign and will have a photo ready to display on the big screens if a crowd led applause starts on the 14th minute of the game.
