Rice puts Hammers target on the line

Declan Rice has set this target and believes it is entirely realistic – top six or bust!

The defensive midfielder had another effective game against Villa and clearly believes the squad has what it takes to join the Premier League elite.

Eat was impressive last night was the defensive set up of which he is a central character as the team kept another clean sheet following the Norwich City canter.

With just two goals conceded in the last five games, much of the criticism aimed at the back four and defensive midfield in disappearing as the team continue to demonstrates that their ambitions this season are big.

Next up it’s Man U – another game which will show clearly just where this team is at after the Reds saw off Leicester City on Saturday.

Victory over the Old Trafford club could be vital as the Irons aim for what is currently being discussed as a very doable target.

Rice said  – speaking at https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7471013/Declan-Rice-insists-West-Ham-pushing-six-finish-encouraging-start.html   “From the moment I came back in pre-season it was a very happy camp. We’re playing with that confidence, we’re defending hard.’

Rice was pleased with how ten man West Ham battled to get a point against Aston Villa

He said: ‘I think we’re very happy with the point. We were a bit slow in the first half. In the second half when we went down to ten, we knew it was going to be tough, but we dug in there and we were still creating chances.

‘We were a bit slow out the blocks, they came out right on top. Second half, I thought we were excellent. If this was the West Ham of last season we would have lost that game. The manager has really got us together.’
