“Every time I had a match I would try and play exactly as he did. He’s a great idol to look up to for any young centre back.”

Rice is an ambassador for DT38  aiming to enure that as many young men as possible are aware of the threat of  testicular cancer, the disease which  took  Dylan Tombides life four years ago and is most commonly diagnosed cancer amongst men aged 15-34.

He said: “Testicular cancer affects younger men in particular. If you catch it early your chances of getting treated effectively are much higher and so it’s so important that you check yourselves regularly and seek advice if you notice anything different.
