Allegations on social media that maybe there was a different reason for the absence of Declan Rice and others from the match at the Etihad last night have been denied by the Hammers skipper.
Some seemed to believe that maybe the manager had decided to weaken the team in order to save Dec, Soucek and Aguerd for the match against Manchester United which may seem more winable than tnat against City.
But Declan has made it clear that he was indeed poorly for the match.
It now remains to be seen whether he and the other players will be ready for the game with sources inside the club claiming it is too early to give confirmation or otherwise.
Speaking on Instagram Declan said: “Gutted to be missing tonight’s match. Picked up a sickness bug yesterday and has carried on throughout the night/today. Wishing the boys the best of luck. Come on @WestHam.”
Rice posted on his Instagram story, followed by an emoji of a love heart.
So there was plenty of time to call the kids up to Manchester given started to flair up the night before.
Social Media is probably how many people communicate, but my advice to Declan is that he has nothing to prove to the idiots speculating on what they don’t know or understand and he had no need to respond to the nonsense.
If they haven’t got the measure of the man by now… Tough!
