Declan Rice has tipped his defensive midfield teammate Tomas Soucek as this season’s winner of Hammer of the year.

Rice praised Soucek’s performance against Man United in the FA Cup when the Czech player ran 17 km in the game.

He joked all the lads tease him saying ‘that’s not normal Tom!‘ adding ‘Honestly he’s unbelievable’

Delcan says “this season he’s going to be our player of the year and he absolutely deserves it, he’s been unbelievable.”

The Hammer of the year was won by Declan Rice last season with Angelo Ogbonna as runner up.

While Soucek is bound to be the red hot favourite for this year but they are a number of other contenders including Craig Dawson, Angelo Ogbonna, Vladimir Coufal, Michail Antonio and Declan Rice

Soucek is one of the signings of the year, he joined the Hammers from Slavia Prague for a £4m loan fee later converting to a permanent deal for another £14.5m
