Rice to Arsenal: The truth

By Hughie Southon

Declan Rice to Arsenal has become the most regular headline attached to the West Ham skipper over recent days and weeks.

Even those who for months on end claimed he was on his way to Chelsea have jumped on the bandwagon and all of them are now reporting the Gunners scenario as a given.

Declan – yellow carded

The reality is however that Arsenal have made no official move at any time and remain no more than a possible along with Man City, Man United and Liverpool.

It is well known that his father/agent Sean has been approaching various clubs it seems more than likely our defensive midfielder will move on and obviously should we be relegated.

However, with not a single inquiry – let alone bid – having been received the Hammers believe there remains an IF beside the situation

We were told again this morning by a top contact that clubs had made no inquiry at any time in any window and that the Arsenal stories can therefore be ignored.

It could well have been expected that agents would be on the move as Mr Rice snr appears to have been and that were Dec a seriously hot property there would have inquiries in the last window or indeed back in the summer.

But there has been nothing and our source declared: “They may move at the end of the season IF they are interested but there has been nothing so far. We take nothing for granted!”
