Rice virus scare but likely to be fit for Everton

Declan Rice is expected to have recovered from a virus which will keep him out of tonight’s England match against Bulgaria by the weekend.

The 20 year old will be sidelined from tonight’s  action but according to a club source – speaking to CandH by e mail – he is very likely to be okay for the weekend.

He said: “We’d have to be very unlucky for him not to be – we have been told he is is feeling unwell and won’t make it tonight but that he should be recovered and fit for the match at Everton.

“Apparently he hs picked up a virus and although it’s difficult to forecast these things it is not thought to be only a short term issue by the medics.”

Gareth Southgate is likely to call up Harry Winks as cover for Rice tonight as he sends out a team determined to make amends for the shock defeat by the Czech Republic.
