Rice walking tightrope

Manuel Lanzini will be absent from West Ham’s clash with Lyon due to suspension and Declan Rice is walking a tightrope ahead of the tie.

The Argentina international  will have to be replaced by boss David Moyes at the London Stadium

Rice, though, is walking a tightrope and is aware that collecting a yellow card in either leg of the quarter-final would see him suspended for a game.

After the last eight, the England international’s disciplinary record will be scrubbed, so he simply needs to get through the next 180 minutes without a yellow card to avoid a suspension.

Were he to collect a yellow card in the second leg, he would miss the first leg of the semi-final, against either Barcelona or Eintracht Frankfurt.

Declan has collected eight yellow cards in all competitions thus far this season.

It’s a problematical situation although we remain confident the lads will manage to overcome it.
