It would seem that signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United is not enough for Tottenham Hotspur.
After a lengthy transfer hiatus between the two clubs, the move of the Ghanaian from East to North London appears to have opened the floodgates. Over the past week alone, Spurs have been linked with Lucas Paquetá, Mads Hermansen and now Crysencio Summerville.
West Ham’s diminutive Dutch winger opened the scoring against Tottenham in the Irons’ win last week, so it is hardly surprising that envious glances are being cast in N17. But if reports of a £25m valuation are accurate… well, it is a bloody cheek.
£25m? You’re Having a Laugh
Considering Spurs have just sold Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace for £35m, their pricing feels wildly out of kilter. Not that it matters, of course. A West Ham source told Claret & Hugh yesterday: “No offer made, but he’s not for sale,” which is pretty much all anyone needs to know.
It would be complete madness to sanction such a deal if the club believes there is even the slimmest chance of staying in the Premier League. West Ham cannot afford to weaken themselves for the benefit of a rival, least of all one so keen to help themselves on the cheap.
Brighton & Hove Albion have had two bids rejected for Micah Mbick, the 19-year-old Charlton Athletic forward who is on loan at fourth-tier Colchester United. Brighton’s second bid was about 3.5 million. Man we should be all over that. The kid wouldn’t have to move very far to make the move from Charlton to West Ham, just as Billy Bonds did all those years ago and that didn’t work out bad. I doubt Nuno is looking at championship players though, unless they come from Portugal or Brazil that is.
