Roberto problem will remain whatever happens

West Ham will have a big problem should they decide to sack Manuel Pellegrini over the next few days!

The position of many of us is now clear – that he is not the man to continue in the job and he, Mario Husillos plus the entire backroom staff should move on.

However, even if the Hammers swing the axe immediately that won’t solve an issue which has been instrumental in the team’s decline  – goalkeeper Roberto.

There is no immediate managerial replacement on the radar although it is becoming increasingly clear from insiders that Rafa Benitez is the favourite should the board decide to act immediately.

Although it is only just over a month before Fabianski is due to return, we face three very tricky away games at Wolves, Southampton, Palace and an equally tough games at the London Stadium against Arsenal, Leicester City and Bournemouth.

Were the board to install a new manager immediately he would need to get to grips with a goalkeeping problem which gets worse by the week and it’s difficult to see how that would change.

However, there is now very deep concern and the trigger could be pulled at any time. There had been real hope that we would see a big difference today but patience is running out fast.

  1. Get rid of Pellegrini tonight, if we change nothing nothing changes.
As for his back room staff and Roberto he can go with him, there must be a non contracted keeper somewhere on the world that can catch the ball.
We have some good players but Pellegrini is getting the worse out of them, must act now before it’s too late.

  2. Roberto is a disaster he couldn’t play in the championship. Got to give Martin a go , he can’t be any worse , we just ship goals with Roberto Not good enough. What s wrong with Anderson as well , he is far better then we’re seeing !

  3. The defence has no faith in roberto and that shows. ANY other keeper will give them some confidence. Pellegrini is so stubborn he wont change the keeper even though hes ours weakest link. He needs to go and a fresh look is required.

  4. For fs ..ACT NOW while the dross today is still raw….if you leave it ,by the time the next game comes you will be backing him again..he has to go now ..there shouldn’t be a keeper problem but because Martin was signed thinking that he won’t be needed with is so so embarrassing now it is a problem…sack him now and by the time it setttles hopefully fab Will be back

  5. I am not a big fan of yours mr gold and mr sullivan…but please our club is now a laughing stock..please do the right thing and sack him tonight and cancel that clown Robertos contract.

  6. Hope the Hammers board have watched MOTD tonight as Alan Shearer tore into our dire team.He got it spot on and yes the players have stopped running and playing for Pellegrini and were a disgrace again.Much as we like to rant here on this forum which is our right i doubt all our concerns get back to the top brass so hopefully when a high profile ex player on the longest running football show says enough is enough they should take notice.

  7. That is about a third of the season gone with 13pts. The situation can be turned around to avoid the drop but changes have to be made now. The players look dreadful, but they are Pellegrini’s team so he has to go. It may be that nobody can do anything with them, but he certainly can’t. But taking a longer term view the owners bear a heavy responsibility. They invested an enormous amount in Pellegrini because they thought it would please the fans & to be fair I am sure there was majority support for the decision. But their job is to make an informed footballing decision & they failed-as they did over Bilic. If they are not going to sell the club they should be delegating these decisions to people with an understanding of the modern game.

  8. The problem is Robbo is wearing his shorts back to front. And his gloves too. He has had a professional career. How..Too funny

  9. Pellegrini conned West Ham.He has lost the plot completely.
He’s without doubt the worst”manager”we’ve had for ears, including Big Sam.
If he doesn’t go soon we will be in the Championship next year.
Pellegrini is our worst signing in the last 20 years. Full stop!!!

  10. Do you just think this dross up on the spot and post it?

Like your issue with Lawrenson. (You know when we started the season well, he never backed us and you’ve been quiet ever since our dip in form. I’m sure you’ll be back when we get 2 draws and a win!)

That brings me back to the main issue, the team we saw today is the same team that started so positive in the early stages of the season, all be it one player. Roberto. minus injuries.

So I don’t understand the issue with Pellegrini at this stage, we won games with this team in the early stages and now we are losing games. with the same team! (Apart from one one).

Surely Fanbianski isn’t the sole issue, this is the same team that in the early stages of the the season stated so well.

West Ham United Football Club are an embarrassment and always will be, we will always get knocked out of cup competitions in the early rounds. West Ham United Football Club will always be a YoYo Club. Accept it and stop posting dross like we are Chelsea, Man United “Fans” and the like.

    • Just about the most illogical and off the point comment ever seen on here. Lawrenson???? Everybody runs Lawrenson and nobody cares what he says. As for being quiet, clearly you didn’t read my piece on sacking Pellegrini. Ridicuous . Dross is correct!

  11. Haller is useless. Worse than an unfit, end of his career Andy Carroll. The ball bounces off Haller every time. No first touch whatsoever. Not a 45 million player. Couldnt even complete simple passes to a team mate against Tottenham. He doesn’t get stuck in. Neither does Anderson, another 40 million waste of space. I’m not even going to mention Roberto. Oh alright then I will. Roberto came to us for a last easy pay day. He was a cheap option, and more importantly a matey boy of the Pellegrini management team.
We have now simply returned to the kind of lack of effort we were seeing pre David Moyes. You can’t have a mr nice guy in charge if you have lazy players, it doesn’t work. Doesn’t matter how talented they are if they don’t put the work in. It’s as simple as that really. Look at the difference when Antonio came on. Simply because he works hard and he runs at defences and he causes problems for the opposition. Before he came on there was a complete lack of movement. If players don’t move and run and put in the basic hard yards then we are going to create nothing.

  12. There was a comment on C&H last night (I think from Che but I might have it wrong) that teh club swap the positions of Haljako and Pelle – I like it – if Pelle feels offended he can then resign and save the club paying compensation – if Haljako does well then the club doesnt have to pay over teh odds for a new manager.

If we have another manager then Roberto doesnt have to play – we wont know if Martin is any better unless we give him a chance – also if we dont have confidence in the keeper then teh defence should be set up to give him more protection – many have been arguing on here for a 5-3-2 formation

As Michael Miller said on here Pelle now cuts a forlorn figure on the sidelines with no clear idea as to how to turn it around

Also his signings are by and large not delivering
