Rock band AC/DC will be the first band to perform at the former Olympic Stadium next Summer before West Ham move in to their new home in August.
The Australian band, whose hits include Thunderstruck and Highway to Hell, will perform in a concert there as part of the European leg of their “Rock or Bust” tour.
The June concert will be the first major musical event to be held at the former Olympic Stadium at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
AC/DC’s recent concert at the Western Springs Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, sparked a major row over noise pollution. The set by the Australian musicians could be heard four miles (6.5km) away across Waitemata Harbour in Birkenhead. The heavy metal band were measured at 103 decibels and their loud music set off numerous car alarms outside the venue, which holds 30,000 spectators. The combined efforts of the band were louder than recent performers Foo Fighters (98 decibels), Eminem (101 decibels) and the Big Day Out Festival (101 decibels ).
Residents of Stratford beware!
Rock and Roll ain’t “noise pollution” 🙂
2 Scots, 2 English & 1 welshman = Great Aussie band.. I lived down under for several years and they hate it when you point it out to them – I pointed it out every time they wound me up about the cricket 🙂
Well we are an English colony aren’t we?

My dream is to get to London to see the Hammers in person.By the time I get there A.Carroll will be on a pension. That may be sooner than we think.Ha ha.If the gaffer reads this he might well say “that idiot from the colony is banging on about A.C again” Ha ha
