Rockin’ the Window I Now that’s what I call a Pearl Vol. 1

Easy to see why West Ham United fans are getting seriously excited now, after a lull in apparent transfer activity which looks as if it was pretty well choreographed by Director of Football Tim Steidten. Multiple targets appear to have been publicised in each position to keep agents, competitors and news sources alike scratching our heads and trying to see the plan amongst the sheer weight of names ‘out there’.

Take a moment to watch one of the many YouTube ‘highlights’ reels for Crysencio Summerville and you’ll understand all the excitement. A right footed, left winger who cuts in and scores or creates with his right foot in a kind of hybrid Jarrod Bowen-Bukayo Saka mirror image clone if such a creature was possible.

The fact that he is young, strong, committed to the West Ham ‘project’ and undergoing a medical today prior to signing today makes this a pivotal moment in West Ham’s summer.

Looks like there’ll be a new song to adapt and learn for the 24/5 season, Leeds’ fans apparently adapted Status Quo’s ‘Rockin’ all Over the World’: It’ll take a bit of tweaking to flavour it Claret and Blue – how about:

‘And I like it, I like it, I like it,  I like it I like it (etc)  here we go-oh. Summerville, Bowen and Mo’.”

Summerville looks poised to excite West Ham fans

ON a more serious note. As supporters we had nearly all bought into the Lopetegui / Steidten ethos but were running a bit low on enthusiasm after so many very high profile ‘failed’ bids for players. Indeed one site claims we’ve been linked with over 200 ‘names’ since the transfer window opened.

Not sure whether Summerville qualifies as a ‘Pearl’ or more of a ‘Gem’ but I believe we are well on track now with the AWB deal following close behind this purchase from Leeds. Once the signatures are all in place then I for one will be saying my apologies for doubting, and being quite critical of, the West Ham leadership .

Kilman, Summerville, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Guilherme..When the ink is on all of those contracts – pretty damn’ good, I’d say. And more to come.

An exciting time to be a Hammer, and should the deals go ahead as we expect, fans can take a breath and relax about the direction the club is heading in.  Hopefully we can then see the transfer window finish off  in style, with the striker and midfielder we’re hoping to add, with far less anxiety.

Doesn’t mean we won’t make our opinions heard the moment the real footy starts though.

Like everyone else, lifelong WHU fan and season ticket holder in old BMU stand at Upton Park from 2003. Billy Bonds these days with my adult son and impatiently waiting for my Grandson to be old enough to initiate him before his mum grabs him for Man U. All opinions are my own very biased ones.

    Finally a positive post
Really was getting fed up with all the doom and gloom with another month of the window to go
Anybody would have thought was days from deadline day

‘Indeed one site claims we’ve been linked with over 200 ‘names’ since the transfer window opened.’ And the reality was that we would have interest in a tiny fraction of those names the rest of the count generated by sites – like this one – who run continual speculative stories about linking us with players.

We haven’t got Summerville yet and I lack faith in Sully not to screw this up as for AWB anyone’s guess Utd seem to screw about almost as much as Sully and Levy, the defensive transfer I am interested in is Oumar Soulet, looks from the showreels anyway a far better player than Todibo if anything quite like Declan Rice / Yaya Toure that he could probably play as a CDM in addition to being a CB.
