West Ham United’s ambitions to offload their troublesome want-away forward, Niclas Fullkrug, have reportedly hit another obstacle.
Fullkrug had hoped to move back to the Bundesliga, but it seems his salary demands are too rich for the few remaining German suitors still interested in him services, hence the loan deal proposals with the Hammers expected to cough up part of his salary.
As an alternative, West Ham had hoped to drum up interest in Italy – but that too has apparently fallen flat. Football-italia.net report that both Roma and AC Milan have turned down the chance to sign the German striker:
“Fullkrug offered to AC Milan and Roma but neither interested in West Ham flop”
Who can blame them, to be fair, after his season and an half of calamity at West Ham. His three-goal total has been achieved at enormous cost to the club, with the injury prone thirty two year-old missing roughly half of West Ham’s fixtures whilst crocked.
It is clear that Fullkrug has been rejected by both Serie A giants and since he’s going to be thirty three in February, likely he’ll not find many Italian or Bundesliga sides leaping to obtain his services.
What makes matters worse is that the same report by Football-Italia claims Roma, instead of Fullkrug, appear to have set their sights on another West Ham striker target:
“..In dire need of a striker, Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini still has his heart set on Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee”.
No easy offload for Fullkrug, then, it appears. And more competition for Nuno’s reported interest in Manchester United’s Zirkzee.
It never rains but it pours at London Stadium.
