Romano Give Update on Moyes Hammers Return

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has played down suggestions that former West Ham manager David Moyes could be set for a return to the club.

The Italian insider has excellent connections with the Hammers and is believed to be an associate of West Ham’s director of football, Tim Steidten.

Quite ridiculously, in my opinion, Moyes has been linked with a return to West Ham as new manager Julen Lopetegui comes under pressure following a poor start to the season.

West Ham’s home form, in particular, has been the worst in the club’s history; however, away from the London Stadium, Lopetegui has remained undefeated in Premier League fixtures.

This has not stopped some mischievous observers from suggesting that Moyes could be in line to return to East London should the Hammers lose to Ipswich this coming weekend.

However, Romano has now waded into the debate to hopefully quell all speculation: “Despite West Ham’s struggles and talk of a possible return for David Moyes as manager, I have zero information on this—zero confirmation, nothing at all.

“West Ham as a club keeps supporting Julen Lopetegui and waiting for better results after many player changes in the summer. I have no info on Moyes returning or any idea, discussion, or contact so far.”

Two separate matters. It was the right time for Moyes to go. He has even said as much himself in interviews he has done since.

Whether Lopetegui is the right appointment time will tell. If however, he is not, re-appointing Moyes would still be a mistake. It wouldn’t shock me though as our owners lack any sort of imagination and always look for ‘safe pair of hands’ types that are currently out of work when it comes to manager appointments.

Weather Lopetegui is good, bad or indifferent, what has that got to do with David Moyes? Am I to believe that there is only two options in the whole world of football?
If Lopetegui isn’t up to the job we surely need to go forward and not backwards. Isn’t that what every other top flight club would do in whichever league anywhere?

The Moyes thing is turning into our own private brexit!
I would agree with the comment about the worse football we have ever witnessed, only BFS could top that IMO.
If he comes back I will not be wasting £50 on train travel to watch that dross. Admittedly the football so far has been a bit chaotic but I would like to see this guy given a proper chance. And if it doesn’t work out we don’t return to that turgid tosh!

  • Thom Ridgeway says:

If they even think, (think) of bringing Moyes back and follow through, then they are personally guaranteeing a half-empty London Stadium every single home game. It would be civil war out there! Those, who believed in The West Ham Way and The Academy, would be finished with this club forever. We would languish in the lower leagues for decades playing the dire football Moyes serves up.

    • Steve says:

“We would languish in the lower leagues for decades”…….. like we did when he was actually our manager perhaps? You seem to have conveniently forgotten the 3 consecutive years in Europe and a trophy in the cabinet.

He won’t be coming back but some of the nonsense being written here about David Moyes has to be seen to be believed.

      • Sensible3 says:

Take those Moyes tinted glasses off as that don’t suit you.

        • Steve says:

‘Sensible3’, I think you are probably the one with a glasses problem. I haven’t actually expressed an opinion on Moyes one way or the other, merely reminded people of a few factually correct stats about the team’s performance over the past 3 or 4 years.

Being a season ticket holder and having watched my first game at the Boleyn back in the early 60s I think I can claim to be reasonably well informed when it comes to assessing the relative merits of recent playing styles.

          • S says:

100%. While I’d say it was Moyes’ time to go at the end of last season, the way some fans continue to be unappreciative of him is just awful. I loved playing in Europe and winning the conference league and Moyes deserves that credit. Some fans just need someone to be angry at. I’ve heard people blame our struggles THIS season on Moyes, as if we didn’t spend 100m+ this summer to “upgrade” the squad. Funny how Moyes buys keep popping up as our best players…

  • Kenny Irons says:

Do me a favour, that’s probably the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Why would we re employ a manager who for the last couple of years of his tenure produced worst football in West Ham’s history and more thrashings than I can remember ! If it ever happened, there would be civil unrest.
Mind you, we’re talking West Ham, here, and nothing is off the radar under Sullivan !

    • Steve says:

“The worst football in West Ham’s history”???? 😂😂😂
You either haven’t been around West Ham for very long or you have let an irrational hatred of David Moyes get the better of you.

  • Ess_Bee says:

It is a bit ridiculous to be talking about M coming back to the club as we are only 6 league games in to the season. One thing that the board has shown in the past is they stick by the current manager. They don’t do knee jerk reactions, as we saw when the board stuck with M until the end of the season even though we only 4 games from 22. (Correct me if I am wrong). So let’s get behind the team and manager until it or if it goes completely t*ts up.
