Everton Beat West Ham to Transfer Target

West Ham appear to have lost out on a transfer target to Everton if breaking reports are to be believed.

Football insider Fabrizio Romano has updated his X account with a ‘Here we go’ and revealed that former Hammers manager David Moyes is set to sign Jack Grealish.

Romano is reporting a loan deal from Manchester City to Everton with a medical scheduled in the next 24 hours. West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for the £100m man, and on Saturday City were rumoured to be proposing a swap deal involving Lucas Paquetá heading to the Etihad.

Presumably, the Toffees’ move now means any such Paquetá deal is off the table — which is surely good news for the Hammers. It’s unclear how much genuine interest there really was from West Ham for Grealish, with a top London Stadium source telling Claret & Hugh: “He’s not the player he used to be.”

It would seem Irons boss Graham Potter is far more focused on bringing in central midfield reinforcements. Crysencio Summerville is due to return to first-team contention next month, meaning West Ham are already well stocked for wide players.

If we have to lose Paqueta to Man City I’d sooner we took James Macatee! Also think Harvey Elliott would be a good fit for us but out of our price range unfortunately. Also think no European football is holding us back on some players.

They are welcome to him and happy we got nowhere near signing him

  • Bob Jarvis says:

Let Moyes have the over rated has been Grealish. Why do you think Peps got rid, he’s an overpaid has been. Let Moyes think he’s got one over us, we’ll have the last laugh!!!

  • John Nightingale says:

I am surprised any team has taken this “luxury” player. West Ham were never interested. Insider BS again.

  • Dudley Tyler says:

Were West Ham ever interested in Grealish? As for him being a 100 million man he might have been a couple of years back but at 29 with his life style he’s worth a fraction of that. Be interesting to see hoe Everton deal with the 300k wages. If nothing else this story shows why Moyes needed to go. He did bring some level of success but his achilles heel is, and always has been, that in the transfer world he goes for overpaid, over the hill war horses a strategy that ultimately puts a club in the proverbial brown stuff. Maybe its a loan. Maybe it a year. But its not a strategy that grows a club.

We may possibly need to have a word with Sully and the Czech Sphinx if we want more exciting footballers.
We need to constantly remind ourselves of the reasons why we aren’t getting the incoming transfers that we need done.

I don’t rate Paqueta as highly as some, but a swap for Grealish ? No thank you ! Everton are more than welcome to him.

  • Dave says:

Paqueta is not the player he used to be either …
We need a player to excite the crowd, instead of the dull side to side to backwards to backwards football…

    • Carrick hammer says:

In all honesty if they can get 40 to 50 million for paqueta they should grab it with both hands .he looks a shadow of the player he was.

Totally agree. Lost count of the amount of incomplete passes from him on Saturday. If a fair price comes in for him we should let him go and reinvest the money in the midfield.
