Football transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has dropped another update – and this time it involves not one, but two West Ham players on the verge of leaving the club.

Earlier today, reports emerged that Marseille had joined Sunderland in the chase for a Hammers central defender. However, Romano has since revealed that it’s Emerson who is closest to a move across the Channel.

Posting on social media, Romano stated: “Understand Emerson Palmieri has agreed personal terms with Olympique Marseille. Negotiations still ongoing between clubs for the left back.”

Loosely translated, this means West Ham still need to agree a transfer fee – which ties in with what Claret & Hugh reported earlier this week. The club will not sanction Emerson’s exit on a free transfer.

Potter was clearly unimpressed with Emerson and sanctioned his sale

Signed from Chelsea following a loan spell at Lyon, Emerson’s West Ham career had its high point when he was named man of the match in the Conference League final win over Fiorentina in Prague. But any hopes the Hammers had of recouping the £13m fee they paid for the Italian international are slim. A nominal transfer fee looks far more likely.

“Niclas Füllkrug should return up front”

But is Fulkrug in your predicted line-up?

    • Martin Treasure says:

‘should’ – our hope. ‘predicted’ -= what Potter will do. Sadly, along with thousands of Hammers fans who’d love to see Bowen on the right, Fullkrug up front – we don’t get to choose!

Wishing Emerson well on travels and hope West Ham an recoup something in return.

So from my calculations that makes 6 players whose contracts were not renewed ( Ings, Fabianski, Coufal, Cresswell, Antonio and Zouma ) plus Alvarez (loan) and Kudus. If we add Aguerd, Rodriguez, Emerson, Irving all reported as to be on the verge of leaving, plus speculation of Soucek going to Everton. That would be a total of 13 out, and only Fernandes, Magassa, Hermansen, Diouf, Walker-Peters, Wilson, Cummings, Todibo with remaining fee paid, so 8 in. Although today’s transfer incomings are both good signings, surely we can’t sell Paqueta or any other first team players before getting quality replacements in first? Really concerned how thin our squad is with only 3 days of the window left, especially when key players are injured, so surely we can’t allow our top Academy players to go out on loan?

Been a great player for us wish him well at Marseille as for Aguerd can’t say I’m sorry to see him go never lived up to expectations with us he has the talent but lacks commitment and consistency with all these players leaving we won’t have enough to put a team together soon

How much are West Ham holding out for? They paid £15m for him 3 years ago, he’s now 31 and West ham are paying him £5m a year. He’s served his time, let the man go before he decides to do a Danny Ings.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

He has been a good player for us all said, wish him well at Marseille and hope Aguerd can follow if we can get a replacement in, Aguerd has been a disappointment he has so much ability though for whatever reason he hasn’t shown it enough for us.

Sadly, I think we are releasing players that still can produce of stand in adequately in case of injuries or loss of form to a first choice player.
Fabianski (oh how we miss him) Cresswell, Couval, and now Emmerson could be a big blessing with their experience.
This I said before, and also that WH would again be obligated to spend millions to replace them. And that’s just what happened now with latest 3x signings. And we sit with Potter + Co. Will this club never learn?
